Abstract
Solitary bone cyst is a benign lesion that almost always occurs on the metaphyseal side of the epiphyseal plate and is most frequent in children. This lesion is prone to lead to a pathologic fracture and recurrence. Twenty cases of solitary bone cyst were treated by methylprednisolone acetate(MPA) injection and they were followed up of at least one year. The procedure consists of drainage of cyst fluid, cystogram, lavage of the cystic cavity with saline, and injection of MPA. Using the modified Neer rating system, satisfactory results were obtained in 15 cases(75%). Thus, MPA injection can be recommended as a management of solitary bone cyst by virtue of simplicity, capability of repeated injection and out-patient basis procedure.
